This command allows you to create a BOM directly from the selected assembly.

Creation stages / Use:

Select BOM... from the popup menu of an assembly from the projects tree or from the tab of an assembly.

  1. Select the BOM template.

  2. Select if a representation of the assembly has to be used and in the case select one in the drop-down list (the BOM will contain elements of this representation only) or if a set has to be used.

  3. Validate.

  • This command is only available from an assembly.

  • To use a set, one has to be defined.

A bill of materials can be created with multi-line texts. For example, this allows you to have a multilingual description. The multiline texts will be displayed as a tooltip in the BOM document and on several lines in the draft document’s BOM table. These texts can be created by using the Construction > Paramaters > Multiline text parameter... command.

The BOM document is divided in several areas:

Available Options:

This checked option will group on the same BOM line different parts having all identical properties. If 4 Hexagonal head screw Ø 6x20 are used in the same sub-assembly, there is only one line with this option checked or not. However, if a cubical part and a cylindrical part are both called "end stops" and all properties in their respective columns are identical, they can be grouped.

This option allows to filter your bill of material to be able to exclude/keep an elements selection. You just have to check the filter to use to activate it.

There are 2 types of filters in this dialog:

  • Source Document: this area lists filters created in the source document (Filter by Color, Entities Filter and Filter by Properties).

  • Filter Documents: this area lists the existing filter documents in the source project or in the project referenced by the source document. If the Activate cell is selected, only elements matching with this filter will be kept in the bill of material ( and consequently, all other elements will be excluded).

For the parts that have the same properties (name, matter, dimension ...) but with different machining, this option allows to make an analysis on the parts to separate them in the nomenclature.

Several contextual commands are available form the bill of materials table. Some columns like the description or the comment can be modified, some others like the mass, le quantity or the material can not.

  • Add Row: Allows to add a line and complete it manually. The added line has a yellow background. The command is only available if the Scraping mode is activated.

  • Restore Value: When a value has been scraped, this command allows to restore the initial value. It is only available if the Scraping mode is activated.

  • Back References: Allows to know back references of the selected part or assembly.

  • Show in the Projects Tree: Highlights the selected document in the projects tree.

  • Open: Open the document from the bill of material.

  • Properties: Allows to display and modify properties of the document.

  • Publish to Erp: Allows to publish a document to TopSolid'Erp.

  • Automatic Part Number: When the automatic part number is activated, it is possible to use it from the column Part number. Select Fill empty part numbers to complete the part number of document without one, select Modify all part numbers to replace all part numbers. The Scraping mode must be activated.

  • References: Allows to know references of the selected part or assembly.

Some contextual commands are also available on columns titles:

  • Add column: Allows to add a column.

  • Hide column: Allows to hide a column, its contain will be taken in account.

  • Delete column: Allows to remove a column.

  • Automatic Part Number: see above.

This field allows you to force the Occurrence bom index of a part.

Select the part into the BOM, check the box and enter occurence index value.

The background cell of this index will be in green. This setting can be modified from the Bom section of the Tools > Options command.
