Family driving |
This command allows to define the parameters to drive of a generic document.
Creation stages / Use:
Create a new document by clicking the icon, then select the Family driving document from the Advanced tab.
Provide the generic document from the Tools > Generic document command.
From the Entities tree, open the Generics folder and drag&drop parameters to drive into the Driving folder.
This document can then be used in one or more Family documents using Tools > Provide Driving in order to define the match between the parameters of the various families. It will be used when replacing a component or to define default values of family drivers according to the assembly in which the family will be included. |
Modifications / Additional information:
Below are steps to follow to use this document type:
Create a generic document (part or assembly) and create in it parameters to drive.
Create a Family driving document.
In this Family driving document, define its generic using the Tools > Generic Document... command and select the document created above.
Define parameters to drive from the entities tree by dragging parameters from Generics folder to Drivers folder, and then from Drivers folder to Driving folder (you can rename and/or add description to drivings).
Create your components as usual (generic + family) dragging parameters to drive into the Drivers folder.
In the component family document, provide the Family driving document created above using the Tools > Provide Driving... command.
Define the correspondence between the parameters. This correspondence will be used during component replacement or to define default values according to the assembly in which the family will be included.
