Candidates Edges

This command allows to detect Candidate Edges available to "receipt" the Parting Edges.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the icon or select the Split > Candidate Edges... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select the Shape To Split to handle.

  2. Indicate the molding axis for the detection.

  3. Once selected, TopSolid'Split  will show you the computed Candidate Edges. If the result is non convenient, choose another axis, otherwise go to the next step .

Available options:

  • Shape: Select the Shape To Split to handle.
  • Molding axis: The Z axis of the Opening frame is preselected when the command is launched. It is possible to choose another one, or to create one "from scratch" .
  • Priority:  Two detection modes are available:
  • Speed: The detection of candidate edges is graphical, and very fast.
  • Precision: This mode allows you a better sorting on the candidate edges, because, unlike the speed mode, the graphical search of the candidate edges is carried out in both directions of the given axis, moreover, a geometric search makes it possible to sort the edges returned in graph.
      • Edges : This option allows to keep in the graphic detection only the Superior, Inferior or All edges:

All candidate edges are proposed

Only Inferior candidate edges are proposed

Only Superior candidate edges are proposed

      • Precision level (low to high) : This option allows you to set the calculation tolerance used in the precision mode, allowing the selection to be refined.  The choice of this tolerance depends on the part in the split.  It is therefore useful to try to modify it to obtain a sometimes more interesting pre-selection.

Two possible detections, different according to the chosen level of precision

  • Follow tangency: Checked by default, TopSolid'Split analyzes the tangency between edges for a better detection.
