Overview of the document options

This TopSolid document has its own properties which take priority in relation to the system options. For example, if the general options of TopSolid define millimeters as the default units for length, but a document has its options set to inches, then the units in inches will be taken into account for the document.

An options tree allows you to have access to the headings, (with any sub-headings), the number of headings depends on the current type of document (Part, Draft, etc.). This tree is available as a popup menu from the banner of another tree, or directly by the tree tabs, if the options tree is already active.

Here is the list of different headings:

Available Options:

General: This heading allows you to set the general options of the current document such as the language, the units, visualization, etc.

  • Language:

  • Allows you to change the language of the current document.

  • File:

  • Allows to change the compressing mode of the current document.

  • Units:

  • Allows you to choose the default units used when entering a value.

  • Visualization:

  • Allows you to set the visualization tolerances for the 3D geometries.

  • Realistic render mode:

  • Allows you to calculate the preview with realistic rendering.

  • Modeling:

  • Allows you to set the modeling tolerances.

Dimensioning: This option allows you to modify the options for modeling dimensions.

  • Modeling dimensions:

  • Allows you to define the display accuracy of the linear and angular modeling dimensions, the diameter symbol display, the dimension extremity orientation and the dimensioning mode of the constrained frames.

Sketch: This heading allows you to set the graphic tolerances of the sketches.

  • Sketch:

  • Allows to define the snap angle and length of the grid magnetization and the large radius of sketches.

Annotations: This heading allows you define the options for texts and annotations, for example, the height of the text.

  • Text:

  • Allows you to define the text default height.

Views: This topic allows to define views options (only in a draft)

  • Magnetic border: It is the virtual border in which are positioned the automatic bill of material indexes. The value to enter is the distance between this border and the enclosing box of the view.

  • Projection mode: Allows to select the default mode of projection of the views.(fast or exact)

  • Projection type:Allows to select the projection type between ANSI (left view is projected on the left) and other standards (left view is projected on the right).

  • Perspective type: allows to select the perspective type (Isometric or dimetric).

  • Refreshing mode: Allows to define if views have to be automatically or manually updated.

  • View index mode: Allows to define how should cross section views, detail views and local views be named.

  • Scale factor: Allows to activate automatic scaling of projected sets. In relation to factors set in the drafting options.

Assembly: This topic allows to define options for assembly documents.

  • Process: allows to set how parts in collision are managed during the process update.

Modifications made are only valid for the current document and will be taken into account during the creation of future elements. If you wish to modify the configuration of the software (for the future documents), you must use the Tools - Options function.
