Heel

This command allows you to add a heel to the selected insert and simultaneously create the process of this heel in the core/cavity blocks.

In case of Multi cavity design,  especially if the core/cavity are monoblocks, it is necessary to create the Heel operation before the multi cavity operation.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the icon or select the Mold > Heel... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select the part to modify.

  1. Determine the sections of the heel and its process.

  2. Fill in the heel parameters.

  3. Validate .

Available options:

  • Part to modify : Allows you to select the part to be modified. The heel will be "united" to this piece.

  • Frame: The frame defines the plane, and the center of the heel section. It will orient this heel , following the Z- direction of the chosen frame.

  • Rotation angle: For heads created from a template document, it is possible to orient the heel by controlling the rotation angle.

Two modes of section definition are possible:

  • Heel section and Process Section: By selecting a sketch for each section or by creating them "on the fly .

  • Model document: By choosing a model document and informing the different drivers or code defining the chosen model.

  • Create sketches: This option allows you to convert the sketches of the template document into sketches created in the document.

Once the sketches from model documents have been converted into sketches, they will have to be edited to modify them.

This section lists the drivers associated with the selected document template.

  • Heel: Allows to give the height of the heel.

  • Process: Two modes of process height definition are available:

    • Clearance: allows you to define the height of the process from the heel in the form of a clearance from the heel.

    • Height: is used to give the total height of the process.

  • Reverse: The height is applied in the Z- direction of the heel positioning frame. Reverse allows you to reverse this direction.

  • The top edges of the heel and its process can be treated in several different ways.

  • The vertical edges of the heel and its process can be treated in several different ways.

  • The blend edges of the heel and its process can be treated in several different ways.

  • Automatic detection: With this option, all parts in contact with the heel are automatically added to the list of parts to be operated.

  • If the option is unchecked, it is possible to fill this list by manually selecting the parts to be operated.

  • Apply the process: This option allows you to choose whether or not to create the heel process at the same time as the heel.

  • Preview:

    • Preview heel: Allows you to display or not the preview of the heel.

    • Preview process: If the process is applied, allows you to display or not the preview of the heel process. This preview is of a different color.

  • Representations: Allows you to choose whether the head should be made in all insert representations or only in its detailed representation. And allows you to choose whether the process should be performed in all representations of the parts to be operated or only in their detailed representations.

  • Machining process: This option allows you to assign a machining process to the heel process operation. This machining process can then be recovered by TopSolid'Cam. It can also assign a color to the operation.

    • Select a machining process document from the drop-down list.

    • Choose a process from the drop-down list.
