Coating Relay Parameter

This parameter allows to relay the Coating parameter of another document, component or project. If the coating parameter has been created in an assembly, the coating relay parameter allows to apply it on each in place part. Then, you just have to change the coating of this parameter in the assembly to change it on each in place part. A coating relay parameter has to be created in each in place part and the coating command for these parts has to be set to Parameter.

Creation stages / Use:

Select the Construction > Parameters > Relays > Coating Relay Parameter.. from the drop-down menu.

  1. Enter the name of the parameter to create.

  2. Enter its description.

  3. Select the type. (see below for more information).

  4. Select the document which has the parameter to relay in the drop-down list.

  5. Select the parameter to relay in the drop-down list.

  6. Validate by clicking

A relay parameter is defined locally (and can therefore be used in a formula), but has always the same value as the parameter it relays.

Available Types:

The parameter uses the parameter value of another document.

  • Select the document that has a parameter from the drop-down list. (document must be open).

  • Select the parameter to relay.

The parameter accesses the internal parameters of a component. For example, use this method to obtain the nominal diameter parameter of a screw that was included in an assembly, by selecting the screw and choosing the correct parameter.

  • Select the component.

  • Select the parameter to relay from the list.

The parameter uses the parameter value of the project.

  • Select the current project parameter to relay.
