Threading standard |
This document allows you to create your own thread standard or a standard not supplied by TopSolid.
Creation stages / Use:
Create a new document by clicking the
icon, then select the
icon from the Special tab.
Thread type: type by selecting an existing type from the drop-down list or by selecting Unclassified. In this case, enter the name of this custom type.
Threading:
Check Internal and/or External if this standard is for tapped hole and/or threading.
Thread profile: select the 2D modeling document containing the internal and external thread profiles for 3D printing (see Model section of Threading or Tapping commands).

Advanced: If Single pitch per nominal diameter is available for each nominal diameter, check this option. If the nominal diameter may have several pitches, uncheck this option.
If the pitch is conical, check the taper option and enter the conicity angle.
Define the different used diameters for this new standard by filling:
The diameter description (for example M12 for Metric or 1/4" for ANSI)
The nominal diameter
The pitch
The drilling diameter
The drilling extra length. This extra length is added to the selected tapped length.
The gauge length if the taper option is checked.
Indicate if the use of this diameter is occasionally or not. When using this standard, occasional diameters are highlighted in green.
Save and check in this document.
