This button allows to manage the advanced settings like listening ports, if the name or the ip address has to be used, the file integrity, the transfer compression (This last option is not available for the local Pdm server). It also allows to manage database.

Use:

Click on the Advanced options button from the Manage Pdm Server window.

  1. Enter the server listening port if needed.

  • Default values for listening ports are 8086 for the Pdm server or 8001 for a local Pdm server.

  • This port needs to be opened in the inlet and outlet rules of the firewall, on the server as well as on each workstation. (Only on the workstation in the case of a Local Pdm server).

  • This port should be changed only in case of a conflict with another application using this same port.

  1. Check the Use machine name option. This option allows you to use the server's IP address but not its name, which can be useful when the server has 2 network cards and the file server is simultaneously used on 2 different networks. For example, one network in 192.168.1.... and one network in 176.25.6.... can be used at the same time for the same projects.

  1. Check the Use centralized workspace option. (This option is not available for the Local Pdm Server). All new documents non checked in, under modification or saved, are in the workspace of the user. With this option, this workspace is on the server. It has several advantages:

  • This option can be checked or unchecked at any time.

  • If it is checked during the use, all new or newly checked out documents will be centralized to the server.

  • If it is unchecked during the use, all new or newly checked out documents will be saved in the local workspace of each workstation.

  • This option is grayed with the Primary Pdm Server execution mode to avoid unwanted files exchanges on the primary server for each file backup.

  1. Select the Database.

This windows groups all the database available on the server with the size and creation date of Database.

  • Rename... : Allows to rename the Database

  • Delete... : Allows to delete the Database

  • Check... : allows to check the integrity

  • Convert... : allows to convert the ServerPdmLocal in ServerPdm. (Not available from the Local Pdm Server, the conversion has to be done from the Pdm server).

  1. Validate.

Available options: Not available for the Local Pdm Server)

  • Maximum SQL replication lag : In some cases like when importing a big library dictionary (.TopDicPkg) from a Secondary, the database replication might have some trouble to be done. This case is extrem because the dictionary import is very costy because there is a massive data insertion in the SQL database. It is possible to increase this limit of 15 minutes by defining a « Maximum SQL replication lag.». It is still recommended to import libraries directly on the Primary Pdm server.
