User property

A document can have properties, of which some are standard (name, reference, etc.). This command allows you to create a user property that retrieves the information coming from a properties document.

Creation Stages / Use:

Click the icon or select Construction > Parameters > User Property... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select a property document in the drop-down list.

  2. Enter the property's name.

  3. Validate.

  4. Complete information according to the type of parameter.

This user property, chosen from the list generated from the properties document, is found in the parameters section of the tree.

  • The filling in this property allows you to have an additional search criterion in the document search tool.

  • This property can be displayed in a bill of material document.

To be able to use this command, you must have first created a Property document that can be found in the Special tab when creating a document.

You can then create the desired type of parameter and fill out the various fields:

  • Domain: Name for categorizing the property.

  • Description: Property description.

  • Parameter: Created parameter defining the property type and its default value.

Example:

  1. Create an Enumeration Document.

  2. Change the enumeration document name in the project tree and enter Portal.

  3. Enter the values (ex. 0, 1 and 2) and associated text (sliding, double sliding, straight, etc.).

  4. Save the file.

  5. Create a Property Document.

  6. In this document, create a user enumeration parameter. In the drop-down list, select the previously created Portal. Enter a name (ex. Portal), select one of the values (not important), and validate.

  7. Enter the domain and description (ex. Portal), and then select the parameter from the list and validate.

  8. Rename and save the property document.

  9. Create a part, and use the Tools > Parameters > User Property... command.

  10. Select the previously created property from the drop-down list and run the validation.

  11. After validating, you can select the desired value, and run the validation.

  12. By using this piece in an assembly, its bill of material will now be able to retrieve and display the Portal property and the chosen value for the part.
