Classification

This type of document allows you to define a classification made up of classes, subclasses and levels which are displayed as a tree. This classification can be associated with a part or an assembly via the Tools > Classifying command, which will subsequently allow you to make searches using this criteria, or to recover information in a BOM column.

Creation stages / Use:

Create a new document by clicking on , select in the Special tab.

  1. Create one or several levels.

  2. Create one or several classes or subclasses.

In this screenshot, levels correspond to each node:

  • Mechanical Components and Systems ......

  • Fasteners

  • Bolts, screws, studs, Nuts, Washers, ......

There are 3 levels of classification.

Classes and subclasses are displayed in the form of a tree. They correspond to the classification depth:

  • Mechanical Components and Systems ...... is a class

  • Fasteners is a subclass of Mechanical Components and Systems ......

  • Bolts, screws, studs, Nuts, Washers, ......are several subclasses of Fasteners.

A classifying can be multiple or not. For example, a part can have several classifications. A screw can be classified in an aeronautic classification and also in a train one. A classifying for ERP must be single. It is for this reason that the Multiple classifying parameter is set to False by default. It can be modified in the Parameters > System parameters folder of the entities tree.

The number of levels cannot be less than the classification depth.
