This command allows you to separate a shape to strip in two or three parts. It is used to isolate transition areas that can not be treated by unbending.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the  icon or select Strip > Areas Separation... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select the face on the side to keep.

  2. Define the areas to separate by selecting boundaries edges.

  3. Apply or not a transformation to the created area shapes.

  4. Validate .

  • If a separated area is removed, this one will become a surface shape (even if it is also a sheet metal shape). The boundary edges will correspond to the border edges of the modified shape.

Available options:

  • Side to keep face: It allows you to determine the side of shape which will be kept.

  • Boundary edges:

This option allows you to select the boundary edges between the area to keep and the area to separate.
The boundary edges must define a closed loop, in order to separate the shape in two. If this loop is open, red balls identify these opening.

In order to help the selection, for each selected edge, the opposite one is automatically selected too. The lateral edges are also added.

    Open boundary edges path.

  • Remove separated areas:
This option is only available when only one area is isolated on the shape. This one can be removed.

  • Keep selected side only:

This option allows you to keep only one side of the isolated area on the shape to modify. The chosen side is given by the face selected as kept face side.

  • Secondary area boundary edges:
It is possible to define a secondary isolated area on the shape to modify. In this case, a second shape will be created, and the intermediate area will be removed.
