Hole Removing

This command allows you to remove holes and forming inside and / or shared with several faces.

 

Creation stages / Use:

 

Click the  icon or select Strip > Hole Removing... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select the faces to consider.

  2. Refine the selection by specifying the areas to consider or ignore.

  3. Choose the healing mode to apply.

  4. Validate .

 

 

 

  • Only the holes and forming areas inside to the selected faces will be taken into account. The zones must be completely "surrounded" by the selection.

  • This command also works on the surface sheet metal parts.

 

 

Available options:

 

 

  • Faces to consider : This list is used to select the faces defining the holes or forming areas to be removed. For each selected face on the sheet, its opposite face is automatically added to the selection.

  • By default, all the zones to be deleted included in the selected faces are taken into account. It is possible to restrict this selection:

    • Edges on areas to consider: Only areas with at least one selected edge will be deleted.

    • Edges on areas to ignore: All areas will be deleted except those with at least one selected edge.

  • Removing: Several search modes of areas to delete on the faces are possible.

For the same selection of faces to consider, different search mode will allow to delete either:

The Holes and forming inside faces: only the areas inside the selected faces will be deleted.

The Holes and forming shared with several faces: only the areas between the selected faces will be deleted.

Both: all internal areas, and between selected faces, will be deleted.

 

An additional mode, Faces, allows you to delete the batch of selected faces. This option corresponds to the Faces option of Removing command.  

Without changing the command, it is possible to select a batch of faces,

And remove them.

 

  • Healing: Several healing modes are available, depending on the chosen hole search option:

  • Extend: Attempt to stretch the neighboring faces until there is no more hole.

  • Cap: Attempt to create a surface to cap the hole.

  • Filled: Attempt to create a surface without necessarily respecting the tangency with the faces of the hole.

  • Automatic: try to chain Extend, Cap and Filled, if the previous healing mode fails.

  • None: leave the hole (no heal)..

In the particular case of the Holes and forming inside faces search, the edges of the holes and formings are removed from the face. And this one is rebuilt. There is always healing.
