This command automatically creates rigid groups and simple joints in a mold document, in order to create the Mold Simulation of the latter.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the  icon or select Mold > Mold Joints... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Create the Mechanism if it was not done before in the document.

  2. Cretae the Rigid groups necessary to create the simulation of the mold.

  3. Validate .

  4. The main Prismatic joints are automatically created.

This command automates the standard mechanisms of the simulation in TopSolid. It is possible at any time to modify the rigid groups and the joints produced.

If no mechanism was created in the file before launch this command, the Mechanism command is automatically launched before the rigid groups creation.

The Rigid group command is launched automatically. The groups are pre-filled with the mold entities.

It is strongly advised to check that all the molds sets are well defined before creating the rigid groups. Likewise, it is advisable to create the Split assembly only once the opening directions of the shells are correct.

Available options:

  • Four rigid groups are created automatically:

    • Ground Group

    • Plastic Group

    • B Side Group

    • Ejector System Group

  • The parts of the mold sets are automatically dispatched in the groups:

    • The parts of the A side set in the Ground Group

    • The parts of the To mold set in the Plastic Group

    • The parts of the B side set minus those of the Ejector System set in the B Side Group

    • The parts of the Ejector System set in the Ejector System Group

It is possible to modify the list of entities automatically selected during the groups creation with selecting in the drop down menu the group to modify.

These groups are not maintained. You need to relaunch the command to modify the existing rigid groups.

  • An additional Movement group will be created per movement set existing in the mold file, if this set contains an insert that provides the Insert function with With Motion = True.

  • If a Lifter was included in the mold file, the rigid groups defined in the component are reported in the mold.

  • Two prismatic joints are automatically created:

    • A side - B side Prismatic Joint

    • B side - Ejector System Prismatic Joint.

  • A Movement Prismatic Joint is automatically created per movement group. The translation direction is given by the shell direction that produced the insert movement.

If the shell direction was not the one desired, it is possible to modify the joint to give the desired direction. Changing the direction of the shell will not change the direction of the joint. This is taken into account only when the joint is created.

  • If a Lifter was included in the mold file, Rigid joints are created automatically between the lifter rigid groups, and the mold rigid groups on which are positioned the lifter groups.

  • In the particular case of a lifter equipped with a holder bushing, a prismatic joint is created between the Base group of the lifter and the rigid group of the element on which it is positioned. It takes the direction of the movement given with the Lifter inclusion.
