3mf Import Options |
This command allows to define the settings for 3mf file import.
There are two ways to import a 3mf file.

Polyhedron:
The polyhedron is only the visible part of the 3mf file. The opening of the file is faster than by using the shape tab, but it is not possible to work with this file (adding drillings for example).It is possible to include it in a draft or in an assembly. In this case, you need to create publish some points in the imported document, to be able to properly use it.
Import options:
Angular tolerance: Allows to modify the angular tolerance. Higher is this tolerance, smaller will be the facets of the cylindrical shapes.
Create edges:Allows to create an edge around each triangle of the imported document.
Create only one face: Allows to group each face in only one. In some cases, if the import fails, check this option. The file is smaller by unchecking this option.
Unit: Allows to select the unit of the imported document.

Facetted Shape:
A faceted shape is made of triangular faces meshing. This shape type support most of the boolean operations (pocket, boss, drilling, boolean,...) and it can be projected in a drafting document in the exact projection mode as well.
If you need to modify the shape, the Faceted Shape Vertex Selection mode allows you to hook elements on the mesh vertices.
Import options:
Clean Mesh: this option allows you to clean the mesh invalidities which size is lower than the given tolerance. The main causes of an invalid meshing are: the triangle height is lower than the tolerance value, a self-intersecting shape or the distance between two vertices is lower than the tolerance value.
Find faces: when it is checked, this option allows you to rebuild the faces of the shape. If the angle between 2 faces is lower than the angular tolerance value, the 2 faces are recognized as one, for instance, it allows to have a graphical echo on all the faces of a cylinder (drilling). When this option is unchecked, the faceted shape is made of one face only.
Fill Holes: with a poor quality mesh, this option allows you to automatically fill the holes of a 3mf solid shapes.
