This command allows to create text and the result is directly visible during the entering. Symbols and parameters can be included during the entering. This kind of text is useful to force a too long description to be automatically on 2 lines.

 

Creation stages / Use:

 

Click the icon or select the Detailing > Rich text... command from the drop-down menu.

 

  1. Select a text style or create a new one by clicking on " + ".

  2. Position the entering rectangle.

 

 

By dragging one of the blue points, the frame can be increased following X and Y. By dragging a side of this rectangle, it can be moved following this direction.

The text width is limited to the rectangle border, then it continues to the following line, but if the rectangle is resized, the text is resized.

To force the text to be multi-lines without regarding the rectangle size, use CTRL + ENTER keys.

A double-click edits the created text.

 

 

  1. Enter the text in the rectangle.

  2. Validate by clicking .

 

Available Options:

 

 

During the text entering, click the needed buttons to change the color or to add a text parameter.

 

  1. Font and height: Choose the font to use and define the text height. All the available fonts can be used.

  2. DetailingText: The text can be Bolded, Italic, Underlined or Stricke through.

  3. Subscript or Superscript: A text or a character can be displayed as subscript or superscript

  4. ColorText: Select the text color by clicking the button . To remove the color, click on the button.

  5. Alignment and justification:

 

The text is aligned regarding the left border of the rectangle.

The text is centered regarding lateral borders of the rectangle.

The text is aligned regarding the right border of the rectangle.

The text is aligned regarding lateral borders of the rectangle. Spacings adapt themselves so that the beginning of the line is aligned to the left and the end of the line is aligned to the right.

 

  1. Orientation: Enter the text angle according to the horizontal direction.

  2. Symbol: Choose a symbol to include. These symbols are not depending of the font.

By clicking on More symbols, other symbols are available.(greek letters, monetaries, mathematics, for dimensions, for tolerances,...)

Some of them depend of the font and are only available if they exist in the used font. They are also available with shortcut keys (see Windows special characters table).

  1. Parameter: Select a text parameter to include.

All text parameters of the document are available (creation date, scale, manufacturer, ...) and also system text parameters (author, major revision,

Text parameters from the set, the bom, the document and the project are also available.

It is also possible to create a new text parameter and formulas.

  1. Hypertext: Allows you to define a link between the created text and a document of the PDM or an email address, a web site, a folder or a file of the computer or the network.

For entering an email address, you have to start with: mailto: (ex.: mailto:contact@topsolid.com).

You can follow the link using the Ctrl + double click mouse keys.

 

 

  • Each line has its own alignment.

  • Each character has its own attributes (color, font, ...). Some characters can be displayed bolded, in italic, striked out, as index or exponent. A character can be centered, have a right or left justification, can have an angle regarding the horizontal. It is possible to insert predefined symbols and also document, project or set parameters, ...

  • Like every Windows software, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V shortcut keys allows to copy/paste all or a part of the text.

 

 

  • When a text parameter is used, its value is displayed on a gray background. Its value automatically changes if the parameter changes.

  • It is possible to double-click this parameter to add prefix/suffix or change its format (number of digits, unit, ...).

 

 

You can add arrows to your text.

First position the text, then select elements where the arrow must hooked.

To delete an existing arrow, after having edited the text, two possibilities:

  • Delete reference item in the list.

  • Select again the reference item in the graphic area.

 

 

To select the geometry, you have to click outside the entering rectangle.

 

 

 

Allows to define the framing of the note and also its color.

  • Framing: Allows to frame the text. Available frames are: None, Underlined, framed, flagged, Circled or In a triangle.

 

  • Color: To use another color, select the color cell and select a new one to use. To remove the color, use the icon.

 

 

Extremities:

  • Allows to modify dimension extremities: leader style, size, ...

 

 

 

Modifications / Additional information:

 

To modify an existing text, just select it with a right button and select the Edit command.
