This command allows to analyze all parts of the assembly and to convert them as sheet metal, tube or profile.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the icon or select the Modeling > Sheet Metals Recognition... command from the drop-down menu of an assembly document.

1. Select what is to display.

• All displays all parts of the folder,

• Convertible displays only parts which can be converted into sheet metal parts, tube or profile.

• Convertible as sheetmetal displays only parts which can be converted into sheet metal parts,

• Convertible as tube displays only parts which can be converted into tubes,

• Convertible as profile displays only parts which can be converted into profiles,

• Sheet metal displays sheet metal parts,

• Tube displays only tubes,

• Profile displays only profiles,

• Impossible to convert displays all parts which can't be converted.

2. If the maximum allowed thickness option is checked, only parts with a thickness lower than this value will be considered.

3. If the Only allowed thicknesses option is checked, only candidate parts with a thickness present in the list of allowed thicknesses will be selected.

4. The Minimum Size Allowed option allows parts that could have been considered sheet metal to be considered non-convertible. For example, a washer has a constant thickness, which can be included in the list of thicknesses to be considered. But if the minimum dimension of its enclosing box is less than the authorized one, it will be excluded from the list of parts to be converted.

5. Check the Straighten lateral faces if needed option. faces to straighten are automatically selected without any user interaction. A straighten lateral faces operation is created in each part.

6. Identify tubes and standard profiles : This option allows you to list the parts to be converted into tubes and profiles.
   Only the following types of profiles are recognized:

• Round tube: Circular Section

• Square or rectangular tube: Square or Rectangle Section

• Oblong tube: Oblong Section

• IPE/IPN/IPA: I Section

• HEA/HEB: H Section

• UPE/UPN: U Section

• LE/UL: L section

• ET/UT: T section

7. Validate the conversion of the checked parts in the list by clicking on .

Available options:

• Edit: The list of allowed thicknesses can be modified locally in the command.

• Parts: The table indicates parts name, the part status, information (synchronized), the thickness, its matter and its unfolding rules if any.

• Parts on cyan background are parts which match the allowed thickness and which can be converted into sheet metal. You can uncheck them to not convert them.
• Parts on green background are already sheet metal parts.

• Contextual commands are available on the parts selected in the parts list:

• It is possible to delete the conversion of a part into sheet metal, tube or profile.

• It is possible to force the conversion of a part into a profile, if it has not been correctly identified.

• It is possible to force the conversion of a sheet metal into a tube, if it has not been correctly identified.
