Backgauge Shape Positioning

This control allows the backgauge to be positioned on the machine to make the bend. Each positioned backgauge is associated with the current bending step.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the  icon or select Bending > Backgauge Shape Positioning... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Choose the backgauge to position.

  2. And define its positioning.

  3. Validate .

The Bending Operation command is chained automatically if the Automatic Next Bending Command mode is activated.

Available options:

The command offers 2 definition modes:

  • To position: This mode allows you to select a backgauge shape and to position it on the shape to bend via a dedicated wizard.

    • Backgauge: Any shape or part can be selected.

  • The selected backgauge is duplicated in the new positioning.

  • The command will automatically show (if hidden) the parts positioned in the Press Breake Set.

    • Backgauge face: It is possible to choose a specific face for the initial positioning of the backgauge, on the backgauge shape. This field can also be left blank. In the latter case, the entire backgauge shape is considered for the positioning of the backgauge on the positioned part.

    • Destination shape: The shape to bend is pre-selected.

  • In place : This mode allows you to manually position a component representing the backgauge with the standard assembly commands and indicate to the system:

    • Backgauge: Select the component / part to be considered as a backgauge . A shape cannot be selected.

    • Destination shape: The shape to bend is pre-selected.

This section is only available in the case of the To position method. An automatic initial positioning is carried out:

In height, the bottom of the enclosing box of the backgauge form is aligned with the bottom of the enclosing box of the form to be bended (more precisely the part of the shape to bend lying behind the bending plane).

The two enclosing boxes are laterally centred in relation to each other.

It is possible to adjust this initial position by specifying

  • Lateral shift and

  • Vertical shift.

The system will then automatically calculate which part of the backgauge shape should be in contact with the shape to bend.

  • Lateral positioning face: It is also possible to indicate one side (on the shape to bend) to finely adjust the position of the backgauge on one side of the shape to bend.

This section is used to calculate the position dimension of the backgauge.

  • Flat bend face: It is automatically selected.

  • Backgauge depth: This value is calculated and displayed in the dialog. It is the distance (in depth) between the bending plane (or the axis of the flat bend) and the backgauge face in contact with the shape to bend. This information can be displayed in a drawing.
