MF post-processing rules

Presentation :

MF post-processing enables the application of a user-configurable machining strategy machining strategy. This configuration can be used for machining, automatic machining, and WOP export.

The interface is divided into three main sections:

1 - Rules available (left)

2 - Selected rules (center)

3 - Selected rule configuration (right)

Creation stages / Use :

1. Add a post-processing rule

  1. Select a rule from the list of available rules.

  2. Click on the → arrow to add it to the selected rules.

  3. Once added, the rule appears in the central list.

-

2. Modify rule parameters

  1. Click on a rule in the list of selected rules.

  2. The associated parameters are displayed in the right-hand panel.

  3. Modify options via drop-down menus or input fields.

3. Delete a rule

  1. Select a rule from the list of selected rules.

  2. Click on the ← arrow to remove it.

4. Change the order of applied rules

The order of the rules in the list of selected rules determines the sequence of processing sequence. The ↑ and ↓ arrows can be used to rearrange this order to ensure logical execution.

Available rules :

Below is a list of the rules available for the different operation categories :

Catégorie Règle Description

Holes

Merge drilling MF

Merges two drilling MF which are colinear.

The MF must have only one hole and must have the same diameter.

At least the result must be a through hole.

Convert drilling MF to pocket MF

Converts drilling MF to pocket MF when diameter is greater than a given value.

The drilling MF must contain only one hole primitive.

Convert drilling MF to pocket MF outside the list

Converts drilling MF to pocket MF when the diameter is outside the list.

The drilling MF must contain only one hole primitive.

Remove drilling MF with large diameter

Removes drilling MF when diameter is greater than a given value.

The drilling MF must contain only one hole primitive.

Machine the reversible drilling MF on the top side

Machine the reversible drilling MF on the top side.

The drilling MF must contain only one hole primitive and be through-hole.

This rule should only be used by the Ardis export.

Pockets

Machine the reversible pocket MF on the top side

Machine the reversible pocket MF on the top side.

The pocket MF must be through and has only one section.

This rule should only be used by the Ardis export.

Merge pocket MF

Merges two pocket MF which are coplanar.

The MF must have the same depth, the same blends ans the same draft angle.

Convert pocket MF to cutting MF

Converts through pocket MF to cutting MF when surface area is greater than a given value.
MF contouring

Convert contouring MF to cutting MF

Converts contouring MF to cutting MF if the contouring forms a convex polygon.

Add enclosing rectangular contouring MF

Make enclosing rectangular contouring MF in terms of number of passes.

Cutting

Convert cutting MF to pocket MF

Converts cutting MF to through pocket MF when surface area is smaller than a given value.
Clamex

Choose clamex machining method

Define clamex machining method in terms of clamex positioning related to fibers frame:

- vertical positioning : orthogonal to fibers frame Z direction

- horizontal positioning : parallel to fibers frame Z direction

- other positioning : neither vertical nor horizontal

Notes

  • Use rules adapted to the type of FM to avoid unwanted modifications.

  • Check that rules are compatible with each other (e.g. avoid merging holes and then converting them into pockets).

  • Test rules with a small sample before applying them in production.
