Shut Off Surfaces

This command allows you to create Shut Off Surfaces to "fill" part openings.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the icon or select the Split > Shut Off Surfaces... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Choose the selection mode of the openings to be plugged appropriate to your need.

  2. It is possible to define the desired filling mode.

  3. Validate .

Available options:

  • Several opening selection modes are available:

  • Edges: This mode is used to create the surface(s) required to close a Parting edges path. Simply select a single edge of a closed loop to consider the entire loop.

  • Shape: You select a shape and TopSolid'Split tries to automatically create all the Shut Off Surface needed to fill all part openings. If the software creates a Shut Off Surface linked to a Parting Edges that doesn't correspond to your expectation, you can Ignore it.

  • Extend: This mode extends the sides of the hole.

  • Fill: This mode closes the hole with a filled surface.

  • Constrained: This mode closes the hole with a constrained surface.

  • Invert extension side: This option lets you choose which surfaces connected to the selected edges to extend, and allows you to shut off holes in significantly different ways depending on the type of opening:

  • Fitting: It allows you to manage the "acceptable" tolerance between surfaces.

  • Smoothing: It allows you to manage the "acceptable" angular tolerance between surfaces to operate an automatic Smoothing operation.
