These interfaces can be optional and need in this case additional licenses. This rubric allows to set-up the TopSolid behavior during other CAD files import (like Catia, Pro-Engineer, Unigraphics, ...) and to propose import options by default.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the icon or select the Tools > Options... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Click "+" in front of the Translators section in the left column.

  2. Click "+" in front of the Spatial translators section in the left column.

  3. Select General.

The Reset button allows to initialize this option to the original settings.

Available options:

  • General:

These options are only for Spatial interfaces (these interfaces are often optional).

  • Import:

    • Convert free curves: In some files to import, some curves non attached to the geometry may exist. They can be imported or not.

    • Translate free surfaces: In some files to import, some surfaces non-attached to the geometry may exist. They can be imported or not.

  • Translate hidden entities: Some interfaces also allow you to convert hidden entities.

  • Translate persistent names:It intolves performing a successive import to preserve the topologies.

Example: Importing a SolidWorks file and creating a dimension on this file in TopSolid. Then modifying the same file in SolidWorks by changing the value of this dimension. By using the Import file into document function to reimport the file into TopSolid, the dimension value will be corectly updated.

  • Translate material: Allows to recover the materials of parts from Unigraphics NX, Catia V5, ProE (>=Creo 1), SolidWorks and Inventor. The known parameters are converted in a TopSolid material document which is then assigned to the created Part document. The unknown parameters are converted into user parameters.

  • Create a log file: A log file will be generated to read the results of the import.

  • Convert mechanical weldment as assembly: Allows not to retrieve all parts in the same document during import.

  • Deep healing: It can be very useful when recovering poor quality STEP or IGES files. However, it can substantially slow down the file import time.

  • Specific options:

Some specific options can be added to change the import or export behavior by selecting a type of interface in the drop-down list. These options are only provided by the technical support if a problem is occurring with this type of interface.
