Section |
This command allows to create a section from a point cloud.
Creation stages / Use:
Select the Section... command from the contextual menu on a point cloud.
Select the point cloud to use.
Select the mode:
Points: TopSolid will create a section as points based on the selected plane and detected points.
Contour: TopSolid will create a section as a closed contour based on the selected plane detected points (possibility of specifying a tolerance to create the contour from the points).
Specify the Selection distance. TopSolid will simulate two planes distant by this value, symmetric with respect to the supporting plane, and will consider all the points contained between them.
Plane selection: TopSolid will consider all the points belonging to the plane specified in the Position section. It will also add the selection distance if it is provided.
Box selection: In this mode, you can draw a box to restrict the selection. Once the box has been validated, TopSolid will consider all the points contained within it. You can still choose to create the section as points or as a contour.

Available options:
Position:
|
This section allows to define the positioning of the sketch that supports the section.
Offset: Allow to specify an offset with the plane define above.
|
Advanced options:
|
Available with Points mode and Plane selection only. Allow to specify the color and size of created points.
|
Modifications / Additional information:
In the graphic area, handles allow you to adjust the offset value of the sketch plane as well as the selection distance.
Example of a point section, where the sketch plane is offset by 1940mm relative to the reference plane, with a selection distance of 100mm |
