This command allows to deform a shape or faces by a torsion around an axis. This deformation will be listed and usable by the deformation command.

Creation stages / Use:

Click on the icon or choose the command Construction > Deformations > Torsion Deformation... from the drop down menu.

  1. Give the torsion axis.

  2. Select the origin point of the torsion.

  3. Give the length of the torsion.

  4. Give the torsion angle. This angle will be applied progressively on the given length above.

  5. Activate the option Smooth to get a smooth junction (without edge) between the twisted part and the unchanged part of the element in case of a partial torsion (torsion length smaller than the part length).

  6. Validate by clicking .

  • The initial volume of the shape is not preserved after deformation.

  • The point is considered as positioned on the neutral axis.

Modifications / Additional information:

Each modification can be done using the popup menu from the operations tree.

It is possible to replace a deformation by another (for example a flexion by a torsion), by using the Replace contextual command in the operations tree.
