Datum feature

 

 

 

 

This command defines a face as tolerance reference.

 

Creation stages / Use:

 

Click the icon or select Tools > Annotations > Datum feature... command from the drop-down menu.

 

  1. Select the plane on which to "write" the reference.

  2. Select an reference item (plane, circular face, etc.).

  3. Validate by clicking .

 

 

  • For reasons of rapidity, only the selection of reference items is available during creation. In principle, the options are not required.

  • Tolerance references can be hooked to the frames of geometric tolerance.

 

 

Available options:

 

 

 

Allows to display complementary information after the datum feature.

  • Datum target names: allows to display the names of datum target that define it. This list is updated dynamically as soon as a datum target with the same name is updated.

  • None: no indication display.

  • Surface count: allows to display the number of surfaces identical to the selected surface (this value must be greater or equal to 2).

 

 

Additional information:

 

The symbol remains legible during the dynamic rotations of the view.

When creating a tolerance reference, TopSolid automatically toggles to Annotation Stage.

 

Modifications  :

 

To modify the reference text, double-click the reference and enter the new text. The symbols text is automatically incremented (from A,... to ,Z and then from AA,... to ,ZZ, ...).

To modify the reference, edit the symbol with the popup menu in the Tolerances menu of the entity tree, or on the reference.
