Computing mode

To calculate the dimensions of the treads and to respect the constraints as much as possible, TopSolid has two calculation modes. Same rise: the tread height will be identical between each flight, and Same tread: the straight treads will be completely identical between the flights.

  • These 2 calculation modes are compatible with Spiral and Winder treads.

Creation stages / Use:

  • Computing mode: two different calculation modes are available:

  • Same rise: the step rise will be identical between each flight. The run will be adjusted to respect the dimensions of the staircase.

Same Rise Staircase.

  • Same tread: the straight treads will be completely identical between flights. The tread will also be constant if spiral/winder treads are present.

In order to respect the staircase dimensions, remainders must be distributed on each flight. On each flight except the first one, a parameter Distribution of the remainder is available with 5 possible modes::

  • First tread:

The remainder is placed on the first tread of the flight. This tread will therefore have a larger run than the others.

  • Last tread:

The remainder is placed on the last tread of the flight. This tread will therefore have a larger run than the others.

  • Previous landing:

The size of the landing before the flight is increased with the remainder.

  • Next landing:

The size of the landing following the flight is increased with the remainder.

  • Previous and next landing:

The remainder is divided between the two adjacent landings on the flight.
