Configure outgoing mail server (SMTP)

This command allows to set the connection settings to an outgoing mail server. It allows to receive backup and restoration notifications, without being connected to the PDM server.

These settings have to be done from a TopSolid workstation and logged as Admin.

Creation stages / Use:

This window opens by using the PDM > Mail server command from the TopSolid button to configure the general settings of the company e-mail server.

 

 

Ask your system and network administrator the different settings to fill below.

 

 

  1. Enter a name, for example your company name. This name only allows to distinguish the used mail server when several mail servers are set (for example, the company SMTP server and the company SMTP server accessible from home).

  2. Enter the SMTP server address which is often a SMTP type.domain_name.com.

  3. Enter the port (generally 25).

  4. Activate the SSL encryption if the server needs it. In this case, also enter the id and the password.

  5. Enter a test mail address and click Send a test message to check settings.

  6. Validate by clicking .

 

 

  • These settings have to be done from a TopSolid workstation and logged as Admin.

  • There is no link between TopSolid'Pdm and your mail. The e-mail can only be automatically sent during the backup or the restoration. It is not saved in TopSolid.

  • It is not possible to receive mails.

  • It is not recommended to configure the SMTP server with your personal mail id and password for confidentiality reasons.

  • Check that pdm@topsolid.com is not in the blacklist.
