This command allows to create a barycenter point with several points, other barycenter points or a part of the geometry.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the icon or select the Construction > Points > Barycenter point... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select the weight unit (see explanation below).

  2. Select different points and modify their weight, volume or factor regarding the selected weight unit.

  3. Validate by clicking .

  • The created barycenter point is an operation. This operation is listed in the operations tree.

  • The point is displayed in the graphical area.

  • This point is listed in the Points folder of the entities tree.

  • It is possible to have several barycenter points, each of them depending on a set of geometries.

Weight unit:

The barycenter point depends on the weight of the different selected points. These points can be barycenter points of parts or sub-assemblies, or center of mass, generally with different densities (material).

The mass can be entered, or can be given from the selected part or the sub-assembly by creating a mass parameter. This parameter is created when using the Tools > Analyses > Physical properties command. The parameter will be created. Then it can be used by selecting it in the drop-down list of mass (small triangle on the right of the mass value).

The barycenter point depends on the volume of the different selected points. These points can be barycenter points of parts or sub-assemblies, or center of mass, generally with a same density (material).

The volume can be entered, or can be given from the selected part or the sub-assembly by creating a volume parameter

The barycenter point depends on the points position, one regarding others by taken in account the entered factor.

For example, the barycenter point of 2 points with an offset of 100mm and each with a factor 1, is the midpoint of these 2 points.

The barycenter point of 2 points with an offset of 100mm, one with a factor of 1, the other with a factor of 2, is at 2/3 of the distance (near the point with the factor of 2).

Modifications / Additional information:

The created point can be edited or replaced from the contextual menu.
