Isolate as

Links/Videos:

This command allows to isolate a synchronized part or assembly. This command copies the synchronized document to save it as a new document. This new document will be independent of the initial assembly.

Creation stages / Use:

Select the Isolate as... contextual command from the contextual menu on the part or the assembly in the Synchronized folder of the entities tree.

  1. Select documents to isolate.

  2. Validate by clicking .

  3. Select the project and/or the folder in which created the document.

  • This operation is irreversible.

  • If some entities of the isolated document were using the deleted linked document, they will become basic. For example, if a sketch is done in part called P1 by using a plane and an edge of a part P2, after isolating, the part P1 will always have its sketch valid, but by editing it, the support plane will be basic (not linked with a geometry and the coincidence will use a basic destination geometry).

  • If a synchronized assembly is isolated as, its components are also isolated.

  • Isolated documents always appear in the Synchronizations folder.

  • The created document is a copy, it has no link with the document it is coming from.

By checking the Report isolations option, a Isolations folder is created in the entities tree. It lists the basified entities. The folder can be emptied with the Empty contextual menu.

Modifications / Additional information:

If the part or the assembly to isolate is linked to a background document or to an environment you don't want anymore, you have to use the Edition > Isolate command.

If the part or the assembly to isolate should not be replace by its copy, use the Isolate as and Replace contextual command.
