IT IS IMPERATIVE TO REGULARLY BACKUP THE DATABASE, VAULT AND WORKSPACES OF EACH CLIENT STATION ( if they are not centralized). ALL BACKUP INFORMATION IS INDICATED IN THE INSTALLATION GUIDE (DATA/BACKUP PROCEDURE CHAPTER ).

FOR SECURITY REASONS, THESE BACKUPS HAVE TO BE SAVED ON ANOTHER DISK OR BETTER, ON ANOTHER SERVER.

 

 

This service allows to manage the PDM server. This service is automatically installed by TopSolid (TopSolid'Pdm Local Server) and/or by  TopSolid'Pdm Server.

The icon is situated beside the Windows clock and provides information on the service state.

 

The service is started and is operational.

The service is starting.

There is a problem. The service is not operational. Check information in the status section.

The service is stopped.

 

This service can also be accessed from the Windows services console (services.msc command in the Windows Run menu).

After the installation of TopSolid'Pdm Server service, an icon on the desktop allows to start the Server Service Administration application.

After the installation of TopSolid, for the use of a Local Pdm Server, this application is automatically started with TopSolid. or can be independently started from c:\Program Files\TOPSOLID\ TopSolid 7\bin\TopSolid.Pdm.ServerServiceAdmin.exe.

 

 

This service must be launched to be able to use TopSolid.

 

 

Different available contextual commands:

This command allows you to manage the PDM server and test the connection.

 

This command allows you to define planed backups of the database and data. It can be full or incremental backups. It also allows to restore the database and data.

 

This command allows you to open the installation guide which explains how to install, configure a PDM server. It also explains how to backup, restore, move or migrate the database and data.

 

This command allows you to start a remote assistance via TeamViewer to allow the support team to access to this server.

 

This command allows you to start TopSolid'Update to check if updates are available.

 

This command allows to manage the license for the use of TopSolid'Pdm Server.

 

This command allows you to know the version of the application.

 

This command allows you to exit the PDM server. The icon disappears but the service is not stopped

Listening ports:

When using the PDM in client/server mode, communication between clients and servers is done through the network via listening ports.

 

8086: The PDM server's main listening port. It is on this port that the client connects to the server. If it is changed, it must be on the server and on each client. This port is also used byt he file server.

 

In the case of the TopSolid'Pdm Local Server use, the listening port by default is 8006.

 

 

  • It is important to leave this port defined above open in the firewall.

  • When the service is first started up, the database is created depending on the connection string settings.
