This section allows to modify general display options of TopSolid.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the icon or select the Tools > Options... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Click "+" in front of the Display section in the left column.

  2. Select General.

Available options:

  • Graphics:

    • Multiprocessor graphics: Available only with multi-core processors. Allows you to use graphic functions (zoom, rotations, etc.) while calculating operations.

    • Accelerated drawing of fast draft views: Allows you to hide the image of the view and not to recalculate except for zooming. Certain maps do not support this mode, in this case, uncheck the option.

    • Level of acceleration for drawing shapes: This option uses an acceleration feature available in recent graphics cards. If the cursor is on the left, the feature is disabled for the card that does not support it. If the cursor is in the center, basic functionality. Cursor on the right for optimized functionality.

    • Optimize edge drawing for thin shapes: Allows display defects of graphics cards to be corrected for the hidden edges of thin parts

    • Accelerated drawing of transparency: The transparency quality is slightly deteriorated during dynamic displacements to increase display performance.

    • Draw edges of draft with thin width: Allows to display all lines of the draft with thin width. Of course, when printing, lines will have the correct width.

    • Draw silhouettes in wireframe render modes: When a cylinder in perspective is in wireframe render, it is displayed with only 2 circles. This option allows to also display the 2 lines. Turning on this option decreases graphic performances.

    • Transparent shapes hide edges: In this case, transparent shape is considered as opaque.

    • Highlight detected faces: Detected faces are framed as during selection, but also colored.

    • Highlight selection of parts in tree: Display a wired echo of the hidden geometries when making a selection or zooming from a tree (Entities, Parts...).

    • Display scale bar: Allows you to display the scale bar in the bottom right-hand side of the screen.

    • OpenGL hardware acceleration: This option allows you to turn on the OpenGL acceleration for the video card. This option is checked by default on cards that support this option.

    • OpenCL device: Allows to activate the OpenCL acceleration of the selected graphic card.

    • Spare video memory: This option allows to avoid allocating large blocks of video memory in order to better support graphics cards with less than 2 GB of memory.

  • Hardware antialiasing: This option allows to increase the quality of the 3D display, but also by increasing the use of video memory. The display rate is reduced. This option is natively managed with recent video cards. The proposed values are given by the video card driver. If it is grayed, the driver doesn't manage the hardware antialiasing. The default value is 1 (antialiasing is deactivated).
