This command allows to distribute points on 3D profile.

Three distribution modes are available: at random, according to curvilinear length or according to a length in a given direction.

Creation stages / Use:

Select the 3D Sketch > Operations > Seedling on Profile... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Select the profile.

  2. Enter the points count to distribute.

  • These points can be moved by hand to adjust their position. Select a point with the mouse, move it (the point does not move dynamically) and release it at the desired position.

  • Rebuild the document will have no effect on the points, a point move manually will stay at its position. A manual update is possible: use contextual menu on seedling operation (right from the operation tree or on one point) and select the Force update command. If the seedling was created with the At random mode then a new free distribution will be executed. If the seedling was created with Length mode or Projected distance on an axis mode then points moved manually will be positioned again to have equidistance between points.

  • Validating the seedling with at random mode without minimum distance, an integer parameter with  value the effective points on the profile is created (available in Parameters folder of the Entities tree). With at random mode the seedling may not be able to create the requested number of points specified in the command (to respect minimum distance). This integer allows to know points available on the profile quickly and it can be used in formula.

Available options:

  1. Specify whether the terminate points are included in the count enter before.

  2. Minimum distance:

  • No minimum distance: distance between 2 points is free.

  • Minimum distance: enter the distance value. Curvilinear length between 2 points could not be less than this value (it could be higher).

  • Distance along a direction: enter the distance value and select a direction. Length between 2 points in this direction could not be less than this value (it could be higher).

Points are distributed at random on the profile.

All points will be separated by an identical distance according to the curvilinear length.

Curvilinear length of each colored segments is the same.

The lengths projected on the axis are different.
