Fill pattern

This command allows to fill a closed profile with a repetition of circles or user profile.

Creation stages / Use:

Select the Construction > Patterns > Fill Pattern... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. According to the profile type chosen, give the diameter of the repeated circle or select the user curve to repeat.

  2. Select the section to fill.

  3. Adjust the distances and settings of the pattern.

  4. Validate the pattern creation with the button

Available options:

Profile type:

Choose the profile type to repeat:

  • Circle: In this mode, you must give the circle diameter.

  • User: In this mode, you can select a profile from a sketch (created beforehand or "on the fly" by using the button)

Section to fill:

Select the closed profile that must be filled with the repeated profile;
You can select a single or multiple closed profiles (from a single sketch) or a planar face (to use its neighboring edges as section).

Security distance:

It is possible to define security distance from the section to fill so the repeated profile will not go over it.

Exclusion profiles:

You can select additional profiles that will be used to exclude an area inside the section to fill.

Search profiles:

This button allows to select automatically all the closed profiles that are fully inside the section to fill.

This search does not select the profiles that overlap the section to fill.

Security distance:

Same as the section to fill, you can give a security distance for the exclusion profiles.

Start point:

The default start point depends on the profile type chosen:

- Circle: the start point is located on the center of the section to fill.

- User: the start point is located on the center of the user profile to repeat.

But this default start point does not fit all situation. So it is possible to use this option to set the start point on the required location.

Propagation type:

Matrix: this matrix propagation uses two perpendicular directions.

Quincunx: With this propagation, the second direction is oriented with an angle of 45° according to the first direction.

Quincunx

Direction:

This is the first direction used for the matrix or quincunx propagation.

Distance type:

Center to center: the distances are applied from center to center of each repeated profile.

Profile to profile: the distances are applied from edge to edge between each repeated profile.

First / Second distance:

Give the value of the two distances to use in the pattern.

You can also modify these values by using the labels on the graphic area.
