This command allows to create different rectangles. They will be used to position hooked views. Each view has to be positioned in a rectangle by using the Optimize view layout command.

 

Creation stages / Use:

 

Click the icon or select the View > layout sketch... command from the drop-down menu.

 

  1. Sketch commands are available. They allow to create rectangles where will be positioned views if using the optimize view layout. Create as many rectangles as views. You can constrain rectangles together.

  2. Validate the sketch (upper in the graphic area).

  3. You have now to hook empty or existing views by using the Layout profile command.

 

 

  • This command is useful for a template with empty views when using it to create a new draft or multiple drafts.

  • During the sketch validation, a building operation (layout sketch) is created in the operations tree. It is inserted at the beginning of the tree, before the views creation.

 

 

  • Only rectangles can be used.

  • It is the sketch layout which gives the views positioning. A view hooked to a profile layout can be moved, but if the Optimize view layout command is used again, the view will take its initial position in the layout sketch. In this case, you should edit the sketch, move it, validate it and then optimize the view layout.

 

 

If views (empty or projections) are in place during the first time the Optimize view layout command is used, it creates the layout sketch if it doesn't exist and automatically hooks different views to this sketch.

To modify or edit, use the same command.

 

 

Rectangles are used for main and auxiliaries views. Their positions are important while views position and scale are defined by them. The views alignment is kept, but the scale depends of the common area.

 

 

In this case, hatching zones are used to calculate the optimal scale for the main view and its auxiliary view.

 

 

 

 

In this case, the optimal scale for the main view and its auxiliary view is calculated regarding this hatching zone, the scale will be smaller.
