Notches

 

 

 

 

This command allows you to add notches on shapes, before or after conversion in sheet metal.

The addition of notches to parts with ambiguous modeling, allows a recognition of the lateral faces of the part, and therefore a good conversion in sheet metal.

 

Creation stages / Use:

 

Click the  icon or select Sheet Metal > Notches... from the drop-down menu.

 

  1. Choose the type of notches to create and their dimensions.

  2. Select the edges positioning the notches.

  3. Validate .

 

 

 

 
  • This command is available before or after conversion in sheet metal.

 

 

Available Options:

 

 
  • Three geometries can be realized:
  • Rectangular.
  • Oblong, Depth of arc bottom.
  • Oblong, Depth of arc center.
  • Width: determines the width of the notch.
  • The Depth can be given according three modes:
  • Length : determines the depth of the notch.
  • Point: The depth of the notch is determined by the selected point, with taking in account the Depth shift.
  • Plane: The depth of the notch is determined by the selected plane, with taking in account the Depth shift.  
  • Extra thickness: It is possible to add an extra thickness to the created notch:

    With Extra thickness

    Without Extra thickness

 

  • Edge: The position of the notches is determined by a list of edges. It can be positioned at the beginning, at the end or at both ends of the edge.
  • Face: It corresponds to the face associated with the selected edge which is not a lateral face of the sheet metal. In the case of non-sheet metal parts, it is pre-filled automatically. The contextual command Change face allows you to choose the other face associated with the edge in case of a wrong automatic selection.
  • Position: This option allows you to change the position of the notch on the edge.
