Empty Supports

This command allows you to include empty supports in the nesting document. It will then be possible to include and position parts in these supports by a manual nesting.

Creation stages / Use:

Click the  icon or select the Nesting > Empty Supports... command from the drop-down menu.

  1. Add the wanted supports.

  2. Activate the checking if needed.

  3. And the wanted options.

  4. Validate .

  • The launch of an Automatic Nesting following a nesting started with empty supports, will allow you to complete this manual nesting by an automatic placement of new parts.
Only the Complete option will be available.

Available options:

Three tabs allow you to define the supports of the manual nesting, as well as these options:

  • Drag and drop supports from the project tree into the support list to select them.

  • The given priority is only indicative, it is up to the user to take it into account when manually placing his parts.

  • Border gaps: allows the user to define the sécurity gaps for the different borders of the supports selected in the list of supports.

  • Nesting with additional security area: It is possible to position the parts by defining a geometry section and a security section, which can be different from the real geometry of the part. This security area is defined in the part by providing the Nesting Additional Security Area function. If the mode is activated, the automatic placement then takes into account this security area defined on the part.

  • Material:

  • Check material: The verification of the consistency between the part and the support material can be activated. If it does not match, the nesting cannot be validated.

  • Category and Material: Allows you to define the material that the parts and supports must respect.

  • Allow supports or parts without material: In this case, there will be no error.

  • Check thickness: This option allows you to activate the checking of the consistency between the thickness of the parts and the supports.

  • Check collision: Collisions between pieces can be displayed in a specific color.

  • Check security gaps respected: Parts whose security gaps are not respected can be displayed in a specific color.

  • Check quantity respected: This option allows you to check that the number of requested parts is identical to the number of placed parts in the supports.

  • Invalid if problem detected: makes the document invalid if one of the checking criteria is not consistent (collision, safety gaps not respected, wrong quantity, material, thickness, ....)

  • Default values: It is possible to set the default border gaps values for the supports chosen to create the nesting.

  • Gap between supports:  The offset between two successive supports can be set.

  • Text style: It is possible to set the style of the text displayed in the nesting and indicating, among other things, the loss rate.

  • Created document type: This option allows you to determine which type of document will produce the nesting: Assembly, Sheet Metal Cam, or Machining with one support per document and its nested parts.

  • Template: This option allows you to associate a document template to the documents produced by the nesting.

  • Depending on the type of document produced by the nesting, it may be necessary to associate a document template.
